Funding was awarded the Mississippi Coastal Impact Assistance Program, administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Jackson County Board of Supervisors. It is immediately adjacent to a large wetlands parcel held by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. It is a direct tributary to the wildlife-rich Pascagoula River, which includes many bird species including Ospreys and Bald Eagles.
